This past weekend, the Devils earned their second consecutive impressive victory. This time, they defeated Kings Point 63-19.
Binghamton controlled the game all afternoon by maintaining possession and securing break downs. Devil scrum half and captain Pierce Butler opened the scoring with a quick touch and go try off of a 5 meter penalty. A few minutes later, Butler punched in another try after a clever offload from lock Jason McKenna. After Brandon Healy’s successful conversion, the Devils went up 12-0. More points came from Healy as the fly half knocked over a penalty kick in Kings Point’s territory. Binghamton increased their lead to 15. Although Kings Point would put up one try before halftime, Nick Coppola and Billy Cusack added tries of their own to put the Devils ahead 29-5 at the half.
The second half was much like the first, as the Devils built on their lead. Healy added another penalty kick, while Aaron DiGirolmao, Matt Richards, Brandon Healy, and Hunter Reiter touched down tries. The final score was 63-19 in favor of the Devils.
After the rest of the ERC wrapped up their matches on Sunday, Binghamton took sole ownership of first place. Looking ahead to this weekend, the Devils prepare for a tough match this Sunday at 1pm at Fordham.
