Discovery Center Story Garden Community Service

As Devils booted up to hit the pitch for Beast of the East on April 20th 2013, the Devils back in Binghamton strapped on their work boots and participated in our first ever community outreach project.

The Discovery Center, which is home to the Story Garden, an award-winning exhibit space started in 2007, seeks to spark the imagination of visitors through interactive experiences with images from favorite children’s books.

Devils Ron Fermin, Tyler Downey, Darren Lam, Jordan Browdy, Zach Lieberman, Tom Sullivan, Zack Rosenberg, Alex Rosenberg, Anthony Stella, Cody Levine, Pete Johnson, Alex Mason, Hember Salcedo, Nick Mendez, and Steve Prosperi arrived at the Story garden to provide our services and they we’re used extensively. From installing a mile of drip line into the garden, to shoveling gravel and what felt like four hundred pounds of mulch into a wheelbarrow then hauling it uphill to cover the drip line.

Nancy Hargrave the Story Garden Supervisor raved about our work ethic and was ecstatic when we were able to move a house she needed relocated. The Discovery Center would love to maintain a relationship with the Binghamton Devils and also invited us stop by the garden to take a look at the finish project. The address to the Story Garden is 60 Morgan Rd. Binghamton NY, 13903.

Job well done to all those who participated in this event. Along with winning the championship trophy at Beast of the East this marks a great weekend for Devils Rugby and we are looking forward to having many more like it.
